Andaman and Nicobar Police joined the global celebration of the 10th International Yoga Day on June 21st, marking the occasion with fervent dedication to promoting the holistic well-being of their personnel through yoga. International Yoga Day, observed worldwide, emphasises the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga, encouraging its incorporation into daily life.

Under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society,” International Yoga Day 2024 highlighted the dual benefits of yoga in personal growth and community welfare. Reflecting this global initiative, the Andaman and Nicobar Police organised a hybrid Yoga Session at the Police Lines, facilitating both physical and virtual participation to ensure widespread engagement across the islands.

The focal point of the celebration was a live-streamed yoga session from the Police Lines, featuring active participation and demonstrations by attendees from various locations. A total of 85 police personnel participated directly at the Police Lines, while an impressive turnout of over 900 personnel from 38 locations, spanning police stations and units across the islands, joined the mass yoga session.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, DIGP (Int./CID), Andaman and Nicobar Police, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at Police Lines. In his address, he highlighted the inclusive nature of yoga and extended a warm invitation to community members to embrace its universal benefits. The event served as a reaffirmation of the Andaman and Nicobar Police’s commitment to promoting health, wellness, and unity through the practice of yoga.
