In a proactive move to address the growing concerns of cyber threats, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has introduced a pioneering initiative aimed at countering cybercrimes through a unified strategy. The program, known as the Cyber Volunteer Program, invites residents of the A&N Islands to actively participate in bolstering cybersecurity measures.

Recognising the pervasive nature of cyber threats in today’s interconnected world, the A&N Police emphasises the importance of collective action in mitigating these risks, which not only impact individuals and businesses but also pose significant challenges to national security.

The success of the Cyber Volunteer Program hinges on the collaborative efforts of the community. By fostering a united front against cybercrime, the A&N Police aims to promote a culture of vigilance and proactive engagement in preventing and addressing cyber threats.

Residents of the A&N Islands are encouraged to join this vital mission by becoming Cyber Volunteers, playing a crucial role in safeguarding the digital environment of their communities. The program seeks individuals to serve in two key roles: Unlawful Content Flaggers and Cyber Awareness Promoters.

Unlawful Content Flaggers will assist in identifying and reporting illicit online content, thereby contributing to the maintenance of a safe and secure digital space. Meanwhile, Cyber Awareness Promoters will work to raise awareness about cybersecurity best practices, empowering fellow citizens to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

Application forms for interested volunteers are available at the nearest Police Station and Cyber Crime Police Station. The deadline for submission of forms is set for February 29, 2024.

Through the Cyber Volunteer Program, the Andaman and Nicobar Police aims to construct a safer and more resilient digital ecosystem for the A&N Islands and beyond. By joining forces in this collective endeavour, residents have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a safer cyberspace for their communities.
