The Andaman and Nicobar Traffic Police has started promoting the ‘Third Eye’ Scheme, a public-driven initiative aimed at strengthening road safety by encouraging citizens to report traffic violations through social media platforms.
As part of the awareness campaign, traffic police personnel have been putting up stickers promoting third eye scheme on autorickshaws, commercial vehicles and different parts of the city.
Under the Third Eye Scheme, citizens can report violations such as helmet-less riding, reckless driving etc. by sharing photos or videos via WhatsApp on 9531892228, or by tagging the official social media accounts of the Andaman and Nicobar Traffic Police on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
In a post on X, the Traffic Police stated: “Spreading Awareness on Third Eye Scheme! Motorists and the general public were sensitized through meetings, banners & stickers about the Third Eye Scheme — an initiative to report traffic violations by sharing photos/videos via WhatsApp & Twitter.”
The scheme aims to involve the public as the “third eye” on the roads, helping authorities in identifying and taking action against offenders in real time. This citizen-led model will foster a greater sense of responsibility among road users and contribute to reducing road accidents in the Union Territory.
