The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are rapidly emerging as one of India’s most sought-after honeymoon destinations, with three major travel-data reports—by Thrillophilia, MakeMyTrip (MMT) and Agoda—showing strong and growing interest from newlywed couples. Taken together, the reports indicate that the islands are no longer a niche or alternative choice, but a mainstream romantic escape competing directly with the country’s most established honeymoon hotspots.

The Thrillophilia Honeymoon Travel Report 2025–26, based on the platform’s honeymoon booking data, places Andaman as India’s second-most booked domestic honeymoon destination, accounting for about 14 percent of all such bookings. Kerala leads with 17 percent, followed by Goa and Rajasthan. Thrillophilia’s analysis underscores Andaman’s appeal among newlyweds, with its quiet beaches, sense of privacy, premium resorts and flourishing water-based experiences such as scuba diving, snorkelling and scenic boat excursions aligning with demand for nature- and experience-led honeymoons. The destination is also prominently featured across Thrillophilia’s honeymoon offerings, reflecting consistent interest among travellers.

MakeMyTrip’s national report titled “How India Travels for Honeymoon”, which analyses booking data from October 2023 to September 2024, presents an even stronger picture. According to the study, Andaman overtook Kerala to become the most-booked domestic honeymoon destination in this period. MMT notes that the islands’ share of honeymoon package bookings rose by 6.9 percentage points year-on-year—a notable shift that reflects a growing preference among Indian couples for beach, island and experience-oriented getaways instead of more traditional city or hill-station honeymoons. The report also highlights the rising demand for curated packages, premium stays and immersive island experiences.

Adding to the momentum is Agoda’s 2025 honeymoon trends data, which places the Andaman and Nicobar Islands among the top five domestic honeymoon destinations for Indian travellers. The platform’s latest search data shows Goa in the top position, with Udaipur, Mumbai, Jaipur and Andaman rounding out the top tier. Agoda’s analysis notes that Indian honeymooners increasingly seek islands, beaches, sunsets and immersive travel experiences—preferences that align closely with what Andaman offers. The platform also observes that while interest in international beach destinations continues, domestic island options like Andaman are gaining significant traction.

Across all three reports, a clear pattern emerges: the Andaman and Nicobar Islands blend natural beauty, privacy and high-quality resort experiences in ways that resonate strongly with modern Indian couples. Honeymooners are seeking destinations that offer a balance of seclusion, comfort and adventure, and Andaman’s crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, sunset views and island-hopping experiences make it an ideal fit. The islands also provide a tropical honeymoon ambience comparable to international beach destinations.

What makes Andaman’s rise particularly noteworthy is the alignment of data across three major travel platforms—an experience-focused provider like Thrillophilia, a leading Indian online travel agency like MakeMyTrip, and a global booking engine like Agoda. Despite their differing user bases and methodologies, all three place Andaman among the top domestic choices for Indian honeymooners. While this is partly interpretive, the convergence suggests not just temporary popularity but potentially a broader shift in how newlyweds are choosing to travel.

With more Indian couples seeking premium, nature-driven escapes, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands appear well positioned to strengthen their place among the country’s leading honeymoon destinations in the years ahead.
