Andaman Law College (ALC) has been designated as the nodal institution for conducting the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament–2026, under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The announcement was made by the Principal of ALC, Prof. (Dr.) P. V. Nagendra Sarma, who said that the Ministry, through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the college, recognising its capability to organise the programme on a grand scale.

As part of the initiative, a three-minute elocution competition will be held at Andaman Law College on November 20, 2025. The event is open to all youth aged 18 to 25 years, and interested participants must first register on the MY Bharat portal (https://mybharat.gov.in) before applying for participation in the Youth Parliament. To assist non-student youth with registration, ALC will set up a help desk on its premises, Prof. Sarma informed during a press conference held at the college on Thursday.

Announcing the theme of the event, Mr. Sukharanjan Biswas, Joint Director, Mera Yuva Bharat, said that this year’s theme will be “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.” The elocution will be conducted in English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Telugu, with a strict time limit of three minutes per participant.

A panel of judges will select the top ten speakers from the local round to compete at the state-level event, from which the top three finalists will earn the opportunity to represent the Andaman & Nicobar Islands at the Delhi Youth Parliament–2026, Mr. Biswas added.

He urged the youth of the Islands to take part enthusiastically and make the event a resounding success. Mr. Gopal Biswas, APA, Mera Yuva Bharat, and Dr. Rajiv Mondal, NSS Programme Officer, Andaman Law College, also spoke on the occasion.
