The 10th edition of the Andaman Marathon–2026, organised by the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ANCCI), Sri Vijaya Puram, in association with the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, was successfully conducted on February 8, witnessing spirited participation from runners across the islands and the mainland.
The marathon was flagged off from the historic National Memorial Cellular Jail by Admiral D. K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Participants competed in various categories, displaying remarkable enthusiasm and sportsmanship, with total prize money amounting to Rs. 10,05,000, in addition to special cash prizes.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor lauded ANCCI and the sponsors for organising the mega sporting event and thanked noted actor Mr. Rahul Bose for his participation and continued support. He congratulated all the runners and encouraged them to pursue excellence through sports and physical fitness.
Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, expressed happiness over the overwhelming response to the event, stating that the large participation of islanders and mainland runners reflected growing awareness towards leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
Actress and runner Ms. Nikita Dutta, along with renowned actor Mr. Rahul Bose, also addressed the participants and motivated them to embrace fitness and endurance sports.
The prize distribution ceremony was held at Netaji Stadium, the finishing point of the marathon, where the Chief Secretary and other dignitaries felicitated the winners and runners-up.
