The general public of Andaman and Nicobar Islands can now easily pay their stamp duty and print e-stamps online upto the value of Rs. 1000/- from the Central Record Keeping Agency i.e. Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL). The stamp duty can be paid online on their website https://shcilstamp.com.
Nicobar Times, tried paying stamp duty and printing the e-stamp from the website https://shcilstamp.com, but is seems that SHCIL has not yet activated the facility for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Secretariat Order No. 2301 dated 3rd of November 2020, signed by the Secretary, Revenue, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has enabled the purchase of e-stamps by the general public under the value of Rs. 1000/- from the website https://shcilstamp.com. The residents of the Islands will be able to pay stamp duty and print e-stamps as soon as SHCIL updates their portal.
This move will benefit all the residents of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, who now will easily be able to pay their stamp duties for affidavits, declarations, partnership deeds and all other works which require stamp duties less than Rs. 1000/-. The general pubic will also be able to obtain the e-stamps at their own convenience from their homes. It is generally seen that stamp papers are not available in remote areas of the Islands, because of which the general public suffers a lot. Recently there were reports of non-availability of lower denomination stamp papers even in Port Blair, which will all be averted now since, one can just login to the e-stamping section of the website https://shcilstamp.com and pay their stamp duty and print their e-stamp.
Printing of e-stamps will however not be possible with any mobile phone, any computer which does not run on Microsoft Windows Operating System. SHCIL enables printing of e-stamps through a programme called, ‘Print Control Programme’ which is only available for Windows Operating System currently, therefore printing of e-stamps from macOS, Linux or any other operating systems other than Microsoft Windows Operating System is not possible now.
