In a groundbreaking medical achievement, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands witnessed their first-ever robotic-assisted surgery, marking a significant step forward in the region’s healthcare sector.

The milestone procedure was performed during a three-day Workshop-cum-Demo organized by Merit Endo Surgery, which introduced the human extension robotic arm to the Islands for the first time.

The workshop, aimed at familiarising medical professionals with the latest advancements in robotic-assisted surgery, provided live demonstrations to surgical departments and gynaecologists.

On the final day of the event, Dr. Saji Varghese and his dedicated team at G.B. Pant Hospital successfully performed the region’s first robotic-assisted gall bladder and fundoplication surgeries using the cutting-edge robotic arm.

This medical breakthrough underscores G.B. Pant Hospital’s commitment to adopting state-of-the-art technology, ensuring enhanced precision, reduced recovery time, and improved outcomes for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures. (Story Based on PR)
