In a determined effort to educate and empower the youth of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, multiple units of the Andaman & Nicobar Police collaborated with the PRAYAS Foundation to organize a comprehensive awareness program at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Govind Nagar No-03, Swaraj Dweep. This initiative, which took place recently, was aimed at addressing critical issues affecting the younger generation.
The program successfully engaged 233 students and 60 teachers, focusing on key topics such as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, drug abuse, cybercrime, and traffic safety. These subjects are of paramount importance in today’s world, and the Andaman & Nicobar Police, under their motto “Catch Them Young,” have recognized the urgent need to create awareness among children to ensure the healthy development of the next generation.
A highlight of the event was a skit presented by the Police Entertainment Team, which made the session both informative and engaging for the attendees. The initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Andaman & Nicobar Police to foster a safe and informed community, particularly among the youth.
Feedback from both students and faculty was overwhelmingly positive, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in building a safer and more aware society. Andaman & Nicobar Police plans to continue these efforts in the future, further cementing their role as key contributors to the welfare of the community.
Schools or other stakeholders interested in organising similar sessions are encouraged to write to the Superintendent of Police (SP), South Andaman.
The general public is also urged to report any anti-social activities in their locality by contacting the police at 100, 112, 03192-250525, or 03192-236641. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
