Andaman & Nicobar Police Marine Force (PMF) has taken a significant stride in creating awareness for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024 under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiatives.

In a concerted effort to promote maximum participation in the democratic process, a series of events have been orchestrated across various parts of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The campaign, spearheaded by PMF, aims to mobilise citizens and emphasise the importance of casting their votes on polling day.

As part of this endeavour, two Fast Interceptor Boats (FIBs) and two Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Boats, led by the Police Boat M.V White Water, navigated through the Port Blair Harbour Area, engaging with citizens at key points such as Dundus Point Jetty, Bambooflat Jetty, Hope Town Jetty, and Chatham Jetty. At these locations, citizens were briefed on the significance of exercising their electoral rights and were encouraged to ensure the participation of every enrolled elector in the voting process.

Moreover, in a bid to underscore the importance of environmental stewardship alongside civic engagement, a beach cleanup drive was organized in front of the MPOC Building, Chatham. PMF personnel, along with volunteers from the local community, actively participated in the cleanup efforts. The event not only aimed to enhance awareness about preserving the coastal environment but also motivated citizens to fulfill their civic duty by casting their votes.

In addition to these initiatives, PMF conducted a series of meetings with the fishermen community at various locations, including Junglighat Fish Landing Jetty, PMF Swaraj Dweep, PMF Campbell Bay, and PMF Mayabunder. These interactions, facilitated with the assistance of the Assistant Director of Fisheries, sought to rally individuals from diverse backgrounds to participate in the electoral process, thereby upholding the essence of democratic responsibility.

At the forefront of these efforts was Superintendent of Police, Police Marine Force, Miss Shweta K Sugathan, IPS, who played a pivotal role in disseminating information about the importance of voting and reaching out to citizens across the islands. Under the dynamic supervision of Ms. Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP (PMF), A & N Police, the campaign endeavoured to instill a sense of civic duty and democratic engagement among the populace, setting the stage for a vibrant and inclusive democratic exercise in the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024.
