As part of the 74th Raising Day celebrations of the Andaman & Nicobar Police, an Unarmed Combat (UAC) demonstration was organised at Flag Point here on Tuesday, highlighting the discipline, physical fitness and operational preparedness of the force.

The demonstration, performed by personnel trained at the Police Training School, Prothrapur, reflected modern policing principles centred on “minimum force, maximum control.” The event showcased the force’s emphasis on humane, professional and citizen-friendly policing while maintaining high standards of operational readiness.

The programme began with basic combat techniques, including punches, blocks, kicks and movement drills, followed by a synchronised KATA display demonstrating precision, balance and coordination. An ice-breaking demonstration illustrated mental strength and endurance, while mat work exercises depicted practical self-defence and control techniques such as knife and stick attack defence, neck grip escape methods, arrest locks and weapon defence.

One of the major highlights of the event was the fire ring jumping demonstration, symbolising courage, confidence and commitment to duty, which drew applause from the audience.

Senior police officers, invited dignitaries and members of the public witnessed the event and commended the professionalism and training standards displayed by the personnel. The demonstration reaffirmed the force’s preparedness to respond effectively to challenging situations while exercising restraint and respecting human rights.

The programme concluded with a message underscoring that true strength lies in discipline, training and self-control rather than reliance on weapons. The Andaman & Nicobar Police reiterated their commitment to service, security and sensitivity in safeguarding the people of the islands.
