The Final match of the Maiden DGP Cup 2023, was played on 2nd April 2023, between Andaman Nicobar Police team and Jadwet Cricketing Club. Netaji Stadium witnessed a full house during the tournament. 41 teams from different parts of the Islands participated in the tournament which began on 15th of February 2023. Director General of Police, A & N Islands, Mr. Neeraj Thakur, IPS inaugurated the match with the toss. Jadwet Cricket Club had won the toss and decided to bat first.
The police team restricted the opponents for 107/10 in 20 overs and then chased down the target in 16.5 overs with loss of seven wickets. Mr Saurabh Pandey of Police team was adjudged as man of the match, and was awarded trophy and cash amount of Rs.5000/- for his innings of 34(26) and for picking up two crucial wickets by giving just 26 runs in 4 overs.
Mr Sundaram of Jadwet Cricketing Club was awarded the best bowler of the tournament, with a trophy and cash amount of Rs.10000/- for picking 20 wickets. Mr PK Jabbar of Police team was selected as the best batsman of the tournament with a trophy and cash amount of Rs.10000/- for his 276 runs. Mr Afroz of Jadwet Cricketing club was awarded with Man of the Series with a trophy and cash amount of Rs.15000 as he scored 265 runs and took 10 wickets in the tournament. The Chief Guest of the occasion, Mr Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Islands and Mr Neeraj Thakur ,IPS, Director General of Police handed over the DGP CUP 2023 along with Rupees One Lakh cash money to Andaman Nicobar Police Team, and Runner up trophy and Rs.50000/- to Jadwet Cricketing club . Andaman Nicobar Police team has decided to donate 50 percent of the winning amount to the Orphanage.
