Andaman and Nicobar Police Team – A won the 7th Edition of Dr. B Srikanth Memorial Cricket Tournament held at Car Nicobar in memory of the former Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, Dr. B Srikanth, IPS.
The final match of the T20 Tournament was played between PUMS Youngsters and Andaman and Nicobar Police Team – A on 11th December 2022, at Bishop John Richardson Stadium, Car Nicobar.
Mr. Neeraj Thakur, Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands was the Chief Guest during the final match of the tournament. Mr. Manjeet, IPS, SP (Nicobar), Mr. Michael Raj, Dy SP/DHQ /SDPO (Car Nicobar), Insp. Rahul, SHO, PS Car Nicobar, Insp. Sahil among other officers were also present during the tournament.
Altogether 21 teams participated in the T20 Cricket Tournament which began in November 2022.
Dr. B Srikanth, IPS passed away at Bishop John Richardson Hospital, Car Nicobar following a Cardiac Arrest in April 2013, while he was posted as Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District. Dr. B Srikanth joined the Pondicherry Police Service on 15th February 1990 and was inducted into IPS in 2005. He had served for more than 23 years in Police Department in various posts, including a stint in the Intelligence Bureau. He was appreciated for his outstanding professional competence during each of his postings.
For his commendable service, Dr. Srikanth was awarded the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day in 2012.
