The Andaman Premier League III (T20 Cricket League cum Knockout Tournament) was inaugurated with great enthusiasm on Saturday evening at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, who officially declared the tournament open at 7:45 PM.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of officials from the Andaman and Nicobar Cricket Association (ANCA), team owners, and players from the ten participating teams. In his inaugural address, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray announced that ₹1 crore would be allotted for the development of cricket infrastructure in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, drawing loud applause from the audience.
The MP encouraged players to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the tournament. He also appreciated ANCA’s efforts in arranging qualified and registered umpires from Kolkata to ensure fair play and maintain high standards of officiating.
Speaking on the occasion, ANCA President Mr. Md. Jadwet expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble MP for the funding announcement. He also requested Mr. Ray to pursue the establishment of an exclusive cricket ground in South Andaman to further boost the sport’s growth in the region.
Among those present were Mr. Girish Arora, Vice President of ANCA; Mr. Nalin Gulecha, General Secretary; Md. Aslam, Organising Secretary; and other distinguished members of the Association.
