The 31st meeting of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (ANIBOCWWB) was convened on 30th May 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Labour Commissioner. The meeting was chaired by Mr. L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Labour & Employment) and Chairman of ANIBOCWWB.

Representatives from the A&N Administration, employers, and trade unions participated in the meeting, where key issues concerning the welfare of registered construction workers were discussed. Emphasis was laid on the need to extend the benefits of various social security schemes to all eligible workers under the Board.

Chairman L. Kumar highlighted the significance of increasing awareness among construction workers about the welfare initiatives available to them. He stressed the need for leveraging digital platforms to reach a wider audience and ensure effective dissemination of information across construction sites in the islands.

Following deliberations on the agenda, the Board unanimously approved the disbursal of ₹8.14 lakh towards 53 claims filed by registered construction workers. These claims cover assistance under welfare schemes such as Pension, Education, Maternity, and Death Benefits. The disbursal will be carried out through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Established in 2009, the ANIBOCWWB currently administers nine welfare schemes aimed at supporting the social security and well-being of construction workers registered with the Board.
