The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (ANIBOCWWB) organised three Special Awareness Camps on January 8, 2026, to enrol left-out eligible workers as beneficiary workmen under the Welfare Board.

The camps were held for Daily Rated Mazdoor (DRM) workers engaged in sweeping and other allied road maintenance works under the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council in Wards No. 4 and 5. Similar awareness programmes were also conducted for outsourced workers involved in maintenance activities at the Haddo jetty in Ward No. 01 under the Port Management Board.

The primary objective of the camps was to create awareness among workers about registration with ANIBOCWWB, enabling them to avail benefits under various social security and welfare schemes implemented by the Board.

A total of 146 workers participated in the awareness programmes. All attendees were provided with prescribed registration forms to facilitate their enrolment as beneficiary workmen. Officials of the Welfare Board also offered detailed guidance on eligibility criteria, registration procedures, and the range of benefits available under different welfare schemes.

The ANIBOCWWB reiterated its commitment to reaching out to all eligible construction and allied workers across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and ensuring that those engaged in activities such as road and jetty maintenance are adequately informed and able to access welfare measures aimed at strengthening their social and economic security.
