The Milk Division of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Ltd. (ANIIDCO) has launched its first-ever milk carts at Marina Park and Bathubasti, along with a new milk parlour at Swaraj Dweep, marking a new milestone in its dairy service network.

The new facilities were virtually inaugurated on 14th October 2025 by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and Chairman, ANIIDCO, in the presence of Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Managing Director; Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Executive Director (Milk Plant); Mr. Mohd. Pervaiz, General Manager I/C (Milk Plant); Mr. Basuki Nath, Company Secretary-cum-General Manager (P&A); and other senior officials of ANIIDCO and the Administration.

Following the inauguration, the Chief Secretary interacted with members of the Self Help Groups (SHGs) who will manage the newly introduced milk carts and encouraged them to maintain high standards of hygiene, quality, and customer service. He appreciated their enthusiasm and commitment towards making the initiative successful.

At Marina Park, the cart will be operated by Ms. Sree Laxmi of Rani Sindiya SHG, while at Bathubasti it will be managed by Ms. Santhi of Victory SHG. The involvement of SHGs aims to empower women and generate livelihoods while ensuring the easy availability of milk and milk products to the public.

The event at Bathubasti and Marina Park was also attended by Ward Councillors Mr. V. Vetriveli (Ward No. 19) and Ms. S. Selvi (Ward No. 5), who lauded ANIIDCO’s initiative in fostering SHG-based entrepreneurship.

With the addition of the new units — the two milk carts and the Swaraj Dweep milk parlour — ANIIDCO expects to generate an additional ₹10–12 lakh per month in sales during the initial phase, significantly boosting the growth of its dairy operations.

Mr. Rajendra Kumar, Senior Manager (Milk Plant), briefed the gathering about the functioning of the milk carts and informed that the mobile milk parlour inaugurated by the Chief Secretary on August 28, 2025, has received an overwhelming public response, registering sales of around ₹1.3 lakh in the past month.

Appreciating the field staff for their teamwork and dedication, the Chief Secretary commended ANIIDCO’s efforts in strengthening local milk distribution and promoting nutritional security across the Islands.

ANIIDCO continues to prioritize health, convenience, and quality through its dairy initiatives, reaffirming its mission to ensure the supply of affordable, high-quality milk and milk products to every household in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. (Story Based on PR)
