ANIIMS Celebrates World Anatomy Day with Event on Theme ‘Anatomy in Motion’

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) marked World Anatomy Day with a captivating event themed ‘Anatomy in Motion’ on October 15, 2024, commemorating the death anniversary of renowned anatomist Andreas Vesalius.

The event, held to emphasize the significance of anatomy in medical education, was graced by Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director of ANIIMS, as the chief guest, with Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services (DHS), attended as the guest of honour. 

Focusing on the crucial role of anatomy in medical practices, particularly in the fields of obstetrics and paediatrics, the event featured engaging lectures delivered by esteemed medical professionals. Dr. Pragadeesh, Head of the Pediatrics Department, provided insights into the anatomical challenges in paediatric care. Dr. Jeevana Reddy, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG), discussed anatomy’s importance in obstetrics, while Dr. Sadeesh T., Head of the Department of Anatomy, highlighted the evolving role of anatomy in modern medicine.

World Anatomy Day serves as a reminder of the foundational role anatomy plays in medical education and its enduring relevance in shaping the future of healthcare.
