ANIIMS Observes World Anatomy Day with Focus on ‘Global Perspectives of Anatomy’

The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) celebrated World Anatomy Day on October 14 to commemorate Andreas Vesalius, widely regarded as the Father of Modern Human Anatomy. The event was themed “Global Perspectives of Anatomy” and featured a series of engaging lectures and discussions.

Dr. Chandra K.P., Dean (Academics), graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Dr. M.K. Saha, Medical Superintendent, was the guest of honour. The programme highlighted the continued importance of anatomy in medical education, its relevance in general medical practice, and the significance of voluntary body donation in advancing anatomical research and learning.

Distinguished speakers included Dr. Abhilash Priya, Head of the Department of Anatomy, Manipal Tata Medical College; Dr. Bhavaniprasad S. M., Assistant Professor, GM; and Dr. Ashok Pal Gobind, Assistant Professor, Department of Anatomy, ANIIMS. Their lectures provided valuable insights into the evolving role of anatomy in global medical education, a press release from ANIIMS stated.
