In a major boost to medical education and specialist healthcare services in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) has received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi, for 13 postgraduate (PG) seats across six disciplines.
According to ANIIMS, the approved PG courses and seat distribution are as follows: MD Microbiology (3 seats), MD Biochemistry (2 seats), MD Anaesthesiology (3 seats), MS General Surgery (2 seats), MS Anatomy (2 seats), and MS Ophthalmology (1 seat).
This significant development marks a major step forward in ANIIMS’s efforts to strengthen medical education and develop specialist human resources within the Union Territory. The approval also aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 and the Government of India’s mission to expand quality medical education and advanced healthcare facilities across the nation.
ANIIMS reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence and to providing state-of-the-art healthcare services to the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
