Animal Welfare Fortnight Kicks Off with Vibrant Pet Walk

In celebration of Animal Welfare Fortnight, the Department of Animal Husbandry orchestrated a lively Pet Walk from Marina Park to Flag Point, attracting an enthusiastic gathering of pet owners, their furry companions, and even school children. The event, held on January 14, 2024, showcased the diverse range of 50 pets, spanning various species and breeds.

Mr. Kumar L, Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), graced the occasion as the chief guest and officially inaugurated the rally, waving the starting flag for the procession. The pet owners, filled with anticipation, embarked on the scenic walk, expressing their delight at the prospect of such events becoming a regular feature.

Among the participants, school children joined in the festivities, adding a youthful and vibrant spirit to the event. The pet walk aimed to raise awareness about animal welfare, emphasizing the importance of responsible pet ownership and care.

As the procession unfolded, gifts were distributed to each participating pet, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for responsible pet ownership. The event not only succeeded in bringing together a diverse array of pets but also showcased the positive response from pet owners, who expressed their eagerness for similar functions to be organized in the future.
