In a significant move, the Andaman and Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC) will commence inspections of all industrial units, including hotels, across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands starting November 1, 2024.

This initiative is in compliance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order dated February 22, 2017, in WP No. 375 of 2012, as well as the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) judgment from May 12, 2022, related to Appeal Nos. 06 and 09/2017/EZ involving the Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industries and others against the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

All industry owners are urged to be present during the inspections, accompanied by relevant documents. It is essential that staff responsible for managing sewage treatment plants (STP), effluent treatment plants (ETP), oil grease separators, diesel generator sets, and waste management are also available to assist the inspecting officials.

This inspection aims to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices in the region.
