Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accompanied by a delegation from the Andaman & Nicobar Rajya Karamchari Maha Sangh, led by its President Mr. Jaydeep Kumar Dey, met with Mr. Tej Bahadur, Chief Engineer of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD). The meeting focused on discussing various issues concerning Daily Rated Mazdoors (DRM) and regular employees of APWD.
One of the primary issues raised during the meeting was the concern regarding the left-out DRMs who had not received the benefits of 1/30th pay. The delegation urged the Chief Engineer to ensure that all working DRMs of APWD receive the entitled benefits.
Furthermore, the delegation highlighted and discussed the matter of reduced payment of 1/30th pay to APWD employees from February 2018 to 2023. According to the communication from the Deputy Secretary (PWD), certain divisions had received the difference amount, but a considerable number of payments were still pending in some divisions. The delegation requested the Chief Engineer to expedite the release of pending payments to all DRMs.
Mr. Tej Bahadur, Chief Engineer-APWD, attentively listened to all the issues raised by the delegation and assured them that the department would take immediate action to address these concerns. His positive response aimed to foster a smooth working culture within the APWD.
