In a proactive move aimed at resolving longstanding concerns of the working class in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a delegation from the Andaman & Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM), affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, recently convened with Mr. Himanshu Sharma, IAS, Personal Secretary to the Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions on the advice of the Minister.
Led by Mr. S. Biju Pillai, General Secretary of ANKRM, the delegation presented a comprehensive overview of the challenges faced by the working populace, notably emphasizing the pressing need for the regularization of Daily Rated Mazdoors (DRMs). The delegation presented several relevant documents in support of their demands.
Mr. Sharma meticulously reviewed the presented documents and assured the delegation of a forthcoming joint meeting with the Division of Union Territories (UT) and the Joint Secretary (UT). However, he indicated that this would occur in the following week due to the ongoing Parliament Session, during which various bills from the Ministry of Home Affairs are being tabled, keeping officials occupied.
The ANRKM, operating under the principles of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the interests of the working class through constructive dialogue and presentations aimed at bridging the gap between employees and employers. The delegation viewed their recent visit to Delhi as a pivotal first step toward resolving these issues amicably.
Expressing gratitude to Mr. Vishal Jolly for his efforts in facilitating discussions, the ANRKM affirmed its dedication to continued engagement with ministry officials to minimize the disparity between employees and the government for the betterment of the working class. Mr. Jaydeep Kr. Dey, President of ANRKM, extended appreciation to Mr. Himanshu Sharma, IAS, for his valuable time and commitment to finding resolutions to the identified challenges.
