ANTCC Celebrates 75th Anniversary of Constitution of India

The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) marked the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India, also known as Samvidhan Divas, with a grand celebration at the Maharashtra Mandal in Sri Vijaya Puram. The event, organized under the leadership of Mr. Rangalal Halder, President of ANTCC, and Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman of the Campaign Committee, aimed to honour the democratic values and constitutional principles that form the backbone of India’s governance.

The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by dignitaries, symbolising unity and enlightenment. This was followed by a solemn reading of the Preamble to the Constitution by Ms. Diksha Dular, State President of Pradesh Youth Congress, who emphasised the core values of justice, liberty, and equality enshrined in the document.

In a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, Congress leaders displayed the Constitution Book, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the nation’s legal framework.

Speeches on the significance of the Constitution were delivered by several prominent leaders, including Mr. Rangalal Halder, Mr. TSG Bhasker, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, former Member of Parliament, Mrs. Zubaida Begum, South Andaman Coordinator of Mahila Congress, Ms. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Ms. S. Sita Laxmi, State Chief Coordinator of Jawahar Bal Manch, and Mr. Abhibhushan Ghosh, Congress Leader. Each leader highlighted the enduring relevance of the Constitution in guiding the nation towards progress and justice.

A special highlight of the event was the active participation of children from the Jawahar Bal Manch, who delivered heartfelt speeches on the historical importance of the Constitution and its ongoing role as a guiding force for the country. The young participants were later honoured for their exemplary performances in essay, quiz, and speech competitions held as part of the Constitution Day celebrations.

The event also saw the participation of senior Congress leaders, including members of the Congress Seva Dal, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, City Congress, NSUI, Mandal Committee, PRI Members, PBMC Councillors, and party workers. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to uphold the values of the Constitution.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Raj Reddy, City Congress General Secretary, followed by a final address from Mr. Sebastian Tirkey, the Congress leader who hosted and coordinated the event.

The celebration served as a powerful reminder of the Constitution’s vital role in shaping India’s democracy and reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to its principles.
