In a stirring display of patriotism and solidarity with the nation’s armed forces, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) on Friday organised a “Tiranga Yatra” under the leadership of its President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker. The rally was aimed at honouring the courage and sacrifice of India’s soldiers, particularly in the wake of “Operation Sindoor” — the counter-terrorism response to the recent Pahalgam attack.
The yatra, which began at the Congress Office and passed through the Clock Tower before concluding at the historic Gandhi Statue, drew a crowd of over 400 enthusiastic participants. Party members and supporters waved the national flag and raised slogans advocating national unity and applauding the bravery of Indian troops.
As part of the event, a felicitation ceremony was held to honour individuals associated with the armed forces. Among those recognised was Mr. Abdul Sattar, a former Army personnel, lauded for his dedicated service to the nation.
Addressing the gathering, key ANTCC leaders — Mr. Rangalal Halder, Mr. TSG Bhasker, AICC Member Mr. Hamid Ali, Mahila Congress State President Ms. Zubaida Begum, NSUI State President Mr. M. A. Sajid, and Mr. Abdul Sattar (Former Army Personnel) — delivered impassioned speeches. They praised the Indian Armed Forces for their precision strikes on terrorist camps and urged the central government to continue such strong measures until terrorism and its support networks are entirely dismantled.
The rally concluded peacefully with powerful chants supporting the armed forces and reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to national security and territorial integrity.
A broad representation of the Congress family and affiliated groups participated in the event, including Senior Congress Leaders, AICC Members, ANTCC Spokesperson, Block Presidents, Congress Seva Dal, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, NSUI, INTUC, Unorganised Workers & Employees Congress Committee, OBC Committee, Fishermen Congress, SVPMC Councillors, PRI members, and members of the public.
