The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) organised a protest demonstration near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday, alleging political vendetta by the BJP-led central government.

Led by ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker, the protest was held in response to the recent seizure of the National Herald’s assets and the filing of charge sheets against senior Congress leaders, including Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Rahul Gandhi. Protesters alleged that the actions were politically motivated and intended to target opposition leaders.

The march began at the Congress Office in Sri Vijaya Puram and proceeded toward the DC Office, with participants carrying placards and banners criticising the use of central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which they claimed were being used to suppress dissent.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rangalal Halder, Mahila Congress State President Mrs. Zubaida Begum, and NSUI State President & Youth Congress Vice-President Mr. M.A. Sajid, alleged that investigative agencies were being used as tools to harass political opponents. They stated that the Congress Party would continue to oppose what they described as undemocratic practices and remain committed to democratic values.

Representatives from various wings of the party, including Mahila Congress, Congress Seva Dal, City Congress, NSUI, Youth Congress, District Congress, OBC Department, Minority Department, Unorganized Workers & Employees Congress, Fisherman Congress, INTUC, Congress PBMC Councillors, and Congress PRI members, were present at the demonstration.
