The President of the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Mr. Rangalal Halder, has urged the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to expedite the tender process for the construction of the RCC Bridge at Magar Nallah, Sitapur, Rangat. The call for immediate action comes in light of the long-standing delays in addressing the dilapidated state of this critical infrastructure.
In his formal communication, Mr. Halder highlighted that the bridge has been in poor condition for over eight years, causing significant inconvenience to the residents of the Sitapur and Sabari Panchayats. He noted that despite the submission of detailed estimates and project plans, the tender for the bridge’s construction has yet to be issued.
“The Magar Nallah bridge is a lifeline for the local communities,” Mr. Halder stated. “It plays a vital role in reducing travel time, improving access to essential services, and ensuring transportation safety, especially during the monsoon season when the Nallah overflows and becomes hazardous for commuters.”
Mr. Halder further emphasized the urgency of inviting tenders, warning that further delays would only prolong the hardships faced by the people in the region. He urged the administration to fast-track the tendering process to ensure that construction work on the bridge can begin at the earliest.
The construction of the RCC bridge is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and improve the quality of life for residents in the area, who have been waiting for a resolution to this issue for several years.
