Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has urged the Directorate of Health Services to take immediate action to address the critical situation at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Rangat, where all five dialysis machines have become non-functional.

In a letter addressed to the Directorate, Mr. Halder underscored the severe impact on patients with chronic kidney disease, noting that the breakdown of the machines has left them in life-threatening circumstances.

“Dialysis is a life-saving procedure, and the absence of working machines at CHC, Rangat, has forced patients to travel long distances to other health centres for treatment,” Mr. Halder said. “This not only exacerbates their physical and emotional distress but also places an immense financial burden, particularly on those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.”

The ANTCC President called for urgent replacement of the machines, the implementation of temporary measures, and a prioritisation of patient safety at the facility, emphasising that swift action is needed to alleviate the suffering of those reliant on the service.
