Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has raised a pressing concern about the lack of meal services for inpatients at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kamorta. In a formal letter to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Halder highlighted the critical need for nutritional support for patients undergoing treatment.
Mr. Halder pointed out that inpatients at the CHC are currently not receiving meals during the morning, afternoon, and evening, a situation that he described as detrimental to their health and recovery. He stressed the importance of adequate nutrition in patient care, particularly for those from the tribal areas of Teressa, Chowra, Pilpilow, Kakana, Daring, Munak, and Champin.
“Adequate nutrition is a fundamental aspect of patient care at the facility, and its absence is negatively impacting the health and recovery of patients, especially those from tribal areas,” Mr. Halder stated.
He emphasized that many inpatients, often in a weakened state, rely on the health centre for balanced and timely meals to regain their strength and recover effectively. The lack of a structured meal is a significant hindrance to their recovery process.
Mr. Halder urged the Administration to take immediate action to implement a structured meal schedule, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, to significantly enhance the well-being and recovery of the patients.
