The President of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Mr. Rangalal Halder, has raised serious concerns regarding the structural condition of the recently constructed RCC bridge at Sippighat in South Andaman.

In a formal communication to the Executive Director of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Mr. Halder highlighted that the bridge, despite being newly built, is already showing significant signs of damage. Issues reported include visible cracks, potholes, water seepage, and an uneven surface — all of which raise questions about the construction quality and pose safety risks to commuters.

Terming the bridge as a crucial infrastructure link for the residents of South Andaman, Mr. Halder emphasized its importance in daily transportation and connectivity. He warned that any further neglect could not only compromise public safety but also disrupt mobility in the region.

Calling for immediate action, Mr. Halder urged NHIDCL to conduct a thorough inspection and carry out necessary repairs and maintenance without delay. He stressed that proactive measures are essential to prevent potential hazards and ensure the longevity of the structure.
