The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has urged the A&N Administration to address long-pending issues faced by commuters at the Parlobjig 15 No. Check Post in Kadamtala, particularly during early mornings and in adverse weather.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Halder flagged the lack of essential public amenities such as toilets and bathrooms, noting that the absence of such facilities causes severe inconvenience to women, children and senior citizens who gather at the check post while waiting for the early morning convoy.

Calling it a matter of public dignity, he appealed to the Administration to immediately construct toilet and restroom blocks at the site.

The ANTCC President also sought a revision of the convoy timing from 4:00 am to 3:30 am, stating that an earlier schedule would help ease overcrowding and reduce long waiting hours until the proposed facilities are built.

Highlighting that similar hardships are being experienced at Jirkatang, where travellers often spend the night awaiting the first convoy, Mr. Halder requested the establishment of adequate night-shelter arrangements there as well.

Terming the matter a genuine public grievance, he urged the Administration to take prompt and appropriate action in the interest of island residents.
