The President of the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Mr. Rangalal Halder, has issued a fervent plea to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, demanding the immediate appointment of specialist doctors at the Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Rangat and Diglipur, as well as the District Hospital in Mayabunder.
In a letter addressing the Chief Secretary, Mr. Halder underscored the critical nature of the healthcare situation in the North and Middle Andaman region, specifically highlighting the challenges faced by residents due to the ongoing construction of the NH-4 road. He emphasised that the infrastructure development has severely impeded accessibility to specialised medical treatments in Port Blair for the local populace.
Mr. Halder pointed out that a considerable number of patients are grappling with the difficulty of traveling to Port Blair for essential medical treatments. Tragically, some individuals have lost their lives as a result of the challenges posed by the ongoing road construction.
The ANTCC President stressed the urgency of stationing specialist doctors at the CHCs in Rangat and Diglipur, as well as the District Hospital in Mayabunder, until the completion of the NH-4 road project. This measure, he argued, is crucial to ensuring the well-being of the residents in these areas who currently face considerable hurdles in accessing specialised medical care.
In light of these pressing concerns, Mr. Halder has earnestly requested the immediate attention and intervention of the Administration to address the healthcare needs of the affected population. His plea is not only to rectify the current predicament but also to prevent any further loss of lives in the region.
