The Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) staged a protest today, condemning the deportation of Indian migrants by the U.S. government. Led by ANTCC President Rangalal Halder, the protest aimed to express solidarity with Indian families affected by what the party described as “unjust and inhumane deportations.”
The demonstration began at the Congress office, with participants marching to the Gandhi statue, holding banners and raising slogans. Senior party leaders addressed the gathering, criticizing the deportations and calling for immediate action from the central government. They described the move as a violation of humanitarian principles and a cause of significant distress for many families.
The ANTCC appealed to the central government to take diplomatic steps to ensure relief for those affected. “We stand in solidarity with the affected families and urge the government to act swiftly to protect their rights and dignity,” the leaders said.
The protest witnessed participation from several senior Congress leaders, including Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI, Fishermen Congress, and OBC department representatives, along with PRI members, PBMC councillors, and other party supporters.
