The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has declared an unwavering commitment to combat corruption with a “Zero Tolerance” policy, and it has taken a significant step towards achieving this goal. The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the administration has introduced a pioneering QR Code-based system designed to simplify the reporting of corruption-related complaints for citizens.

This innovative system involves the placement of QR Codes in government offices and on official websites across Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The QR Code can be swiftly scanned by concerned citizens, making the submission of complaints against corruption more accessible and efficient. Upon scanning, a unique “Complaint Number” will be generated for each case, streamlining the complaint submission process and ensuring swift action.

One of the standout features of this initiative is the “Track Complaint” feature available on the web application. It allows citizens to monitor the progress of their reported cases using the assigned Complaint Number. This level of transparency empowers citizens and enhances accountability within the administrative setup, providing them with real-time updates on their complaints.

The QR Codes are strategically placed in prominent public locations within government offices, and efforts are underway to install them in all government offices throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Police departments. To familiarise both officials and the general public with the QR code system, a briefing session was conducted by Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACU).

The primary aim of this initiative is to simplify and expedite the process of reporting corruption cases for everyone involved. The administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, through the Anti-Corruption Unit, calls upon the general public to actively engage in the fight against corruption by utilising this groundbreaking QR Code-based system. By doing so, citizens can contribute to the creation of a governance system that is transparent, accountable, and free from corruption.

This innovative anti-corruption drive is set to transform the way citizens engage with their government and play an active role in fostering integrity and honesty within the administration.
