The weeklong ‘Anti-Drug Week’ programme, organized by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education from June 23 to 28, concluded with a valedictory function at the State Library, Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram, on Saturday. The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and foster a culture of healthy, drug-free living among students and the wider community.

The valedictory function was graced by Mr. Vikram Singh, Director of Education, as the chief guest. In his address, he stressed the need for collective responsibility in combating drug abuse and underlined the role of education in steering youth away from addiction. Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science), welcomed the attendees, while Padma Shri awardee Mr. Naresh Chander Lal, who was also the guest of honour, presented prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted throughout the week.

A total of 120 students, along with Drug Mitras, resource persons, and teachers, actively participated in the week’s activities. One of the highlights of the event was the screening of the motivational short film War on Drugs, directed by Mr. Naresh Chander Lal. The film resonated with the audience and reinforced the message of the campaign by showcasing the real-life impact of drug abuse and the path to recovery.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to build a drug-free society, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Science Consultant, DDE (Sc.).
