Anti-Narcotics Police Station Executes Successful Operation, Seizes 655 Grams of Ganja and Arrests One

In a determined effort to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station executed a successful operation on July 12, 2024, seizing 655 grams of ganja and arresting one individual.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Mohd Rahil Islam, carried out the operation. The team included Police Constables Ratan Das, M. Raja Rao, Vishal, and Lady Police Constable Nandita Mistry, under the overall leadership of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics.

The team intercepted Mrs. Bhagabati Mistry, 45, wife of Mr. Prohlad Mistry, a resident of Kumirmari Kachani Para, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, currently residing at Hutbay No. 22, South Andaman. Mrs. Mistry had arrived in Port Blair from Kolkata on July 12, 2024, via an Air India flight. She was found in possession of 655 grams of ganja, clandestinely concealed in her trolley bag. The contraband was seized, and Mrs. Mistry was arrested on the spot after all formalities as per Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, were observed. She was later released on bail.

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985, has been registered at the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, and further investigation is currently underway. The raid was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP (CID), A&N Islands.
