Anti-Narcotics Police Station Seizes 1.245 Kg of Ganja in Two Major Raids in Port Blair

In a determined crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station in Port Blair executed two successful operations on August 30, 2024, leading to significant drug seizures and arrests. The operations highlight the police’s steadfast commitment to curbing the illegal drug trade in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In the first operation, acting on precise intelligence, a team led by Inspector Pritam Behari, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, seized 850 grams of ganja from the RMS Parcel Hub of the Postal Department in Port Blair. The operation was executed meticulously, with Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sanjay Yadav, and Police Constables Nanak Singh, Ratan Das, M. Raja Rao, and Vishal Kumar playing key roles in the recovery. The contraband was seized following all legal formalities.

The second operation, also led by Inspector Behari, targeted an individual receiving a parcel from a private courier service company located at Gurudwara Lane in Port Blair. The team, which included Sub-Inspector Mohd Rahil Islam and the same group of constables, along with Lady Police Constables (LPC) Anjana Haldar and Nandita Mistry, conducted a thorough raid that resulted in the discovery of 495 grams of ganja hidden inside a geyser. The ganja was seized, and the individual involved were swiftly identified and arrested.

Both operations were conducted under the guidance of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) Narcotics, and were supervised by Mr. Mohd. Irshad Haider, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID), Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Cases have been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and further investigations are currently underway.
