A heroic anti-poaching team, comprising SI Dheeraj Kishen, HCs Khokan Ch. Das, Alaxander, Cts Rakesh Chander Rathore, Raj Kamal, and PCs Elazier & P.K Mohd. Zunaid, displayed immense courage during a recent operation to apprehend foreign poachers in the dense mangroves and creeks.
On 15th July 2023, the anti-poaching team set out to search for suspected foreign poachers hidden in the mangroves and creek. As they cautiously advanced, the team suddenly noticed movement within the thick foliage, and an alert was raised by SI Dheeraj Kishen. Swiftly, the team divided into two groups and closed in on the source of the movement.
One team succeeded in locating one of the poachers, who was concealed in a bush. Despite the poacher’s attempt to evade capture, the team reacted promptly, giving chase, and eventually apprehending him successfully. Meanwhile, the second team conducted an extensive search in the area but found no further clues regarding the presence of additional poachers.
The captured Myanmarese poacher was later brought to OP Kishorinagar on 17th July 2023 and then transferred to PS Kalighat for initial questioning. Following the inquiry, the Myanmar Poacher was handed over to PS CCS for further investigation, under the supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA.
The remarkable bravery exhibited by the anti-poaching team during this operation has garnered praise and admiration. As a recognition of their valour, the team will be suitably rewarded for their commendable efforts.
