The Andaman Nicobar Tour Operators Association (ANTOA) celebrated International Women’s Day at Hotel TSG Emerald View on March 7, bringing together tourism stakeholders from various sectors across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The programme was attended by Additional District Magistrate (South Andaman) Ms. Priyanka Kumari as the Chief Guest, while Mr. N. Velmurugan, India Tourism, Sri Vijaya Puram, Ministry of Tourism, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Ms. Gurjeet Kaur, BDO Prothrapur, was present as a special invitee. Tourism entrepreneur TSG Bhaskar also participated in the programme and joined the dignitaries in presenting awards.
During the event, 25 women from different tourism stakeholder sectors, including women tour operators, were felicitated with the Women Empowerment Award in recognition of their contributions to the tourism industry and their role in community development in the islands.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Ms. Priyanka Kumari spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment and leadership, encouraging women to actively participate in economic and social development.
The celebration also featured classical cultural dance performances by women and children, adding vibrancy and enthusiasm to the event.
The Andaman Nicobar Tour Operators Association expressed satisfaction over the active participation of tourism stakeholders and reiterated its commitment to promoting women’s empowerment within the tourism sector. The association also appreciated the efforts of its women members and committee members who played a key role in organising the event.
ANTOA expressed hope that in the coming years, more women will participate, invest, and take leadership roles in the growth of the tourism industry in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Simson, President of ANTOA, conveyed his appreciation to all participants and contributors who made the event successful.
