The Department of Fisheries, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has invited applications from eligible beneficiaries in the fisheries sector to avail subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The initiative aims to enhance fish production, promote sustainable aquaculture, improve post-harvest infrastructure, and support entrepreneurship in fisheries and allied activities.
The applications are open to Fishers, Fish Farmers, Fish Workers, Fish Vendors, Fisheries Development Corporations, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) in the fisheries sector, Fisheries Co-operatives, Fisheries Federations, Entrepreneurs, Private Firms, Fish Farmers Producers Organizations (FFPOs), Companies, as well as Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Women, and Differently-abled persons.
Subsidies will be provided for the following beneficiary-oriented activities under PMMSY:
- Construction of new ponds for brackishwater aquaculture.
- Inputs for brackishwater aquaculture.
- Establishment of new fin fish hatchery.
- Procurement of refrigerated vehicle.
- Procurement of insulated vehicle.
- Establishment of Ice Plant (10-ton capacity).
- Establishment of Ice Plant/Cold Storage (5-ton capacity).
- Construction of new rearing ponds (seed rearing ponds).
- Construction of new grow-out ponds.
- Inputs for freshwater aquaculture including composite fish culture, Pangasius, Tilapia, etc.
- Construction of fish kiosks.
- Fish value addition and processing activities.
- Establishment of open sea cages (100–120 cubic meter volume).
- Backyard ornamental fish rearing unit (both marine and freshwater).
- Construction of Bio-floc ponds for freshwater areas including inputs.
- Construction of Bio-floc ponds for brackishwater/saline/alkaline areas including inputs.
- Bivalve cultivation.
- Construction of small marine fin fish hatchery.
- Establishment of small RAS Bio-floc culture system (1 tank of 100m³ capacity or 7 tanks of 4m diameter and 1.5m height).
- Upgradation of existing fishing vessel for export competency.
- Establishment of bio-toilets in mechanized fishing vessels.
Interested and eligible applicants are advised to contact the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, or the nearest Fish Landing Centres/Fisheries Sub-Stations for detailed information on eligibility criteria, subsidy norms, and the application process.
Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format along with relevant documents to the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, or the nearest Fisheries Sub-Station on or before November 26, 2025, the Department of Fisheries informed through a press release.
