Armed Forces Veterans Day Observed by ANC at Brichgunj

Armed Forces Veterans Day was observed for ex-servicemen residing in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) at Likabali Auditorium, Brichgunj Military Station, on January 14, 2026.

Vice Admiral Ajay Kochar, AVSM, NM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), laid a wreath at Bayonet Chowk, Brichgunj Military Station, along with veterans and veer naris, paying solemn tribute to their selfless service and supreme sacrifices. Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the CINCAN interacted with veterans at Likabali Auditorium.

During the interaction, Vice Admiral Kochar reiterated the ANC’s unwavering commitment towards the welfare and well-being of veterans and veer naris residing in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He acknowledged their enduring contribution to nation-building and assured continued support to address their concerns.

The occasion underscored the ANC’s sustained and people-centric engagement with the veteran community through various welfare and outreach initiatives. These initiatives focus on strengthening communication, enhancing preventive healthcare support, and ensuring time-bound redressal of issues faced by veterans and veer naris across the islands.

The welfare measures also include periodic awareness lectures, health and wellness sessions, interactive programmes, and community engagement activities conducted for veterans, veer naris, and their dependents.

The observance concluded with interactive sessions aimed at addressing immediate concerns of the veteran community. Representatives from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, ECHS, SPARSH Cell, and ICICI Bank were present to respond to queries and resolve issues raised by the veterans.

Armed Forces Veterans Day is observed annually on January 14 to honour the selfless service and sacrifices of veterans of the Indian Armed Forces and to reaffirm the nation’s continued commitment towards their welfare and dignity.
