Dr. Rashida Iqbal, noted author, historian, and former Curator of National Heritage at Cellular Jail, called on Admiral D. K. Joshi (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, at Raj Niwas on 10th of June 2025.
During the meeting, Dr. Iqbal presented her recently published book titled “The Story of Cellular Jail – Prison to Pilgrimage” to the Lt. Governor. The book, authored by Dr. Iqbal, delves into the historical significance of the Cellular Jail and its transformation from a colonial-era prison to a national memorial.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor appreciated Dr. Iqbal’s in-depth research and scholarly contribution to preserving the Islands’ heritage. He extended his best wishes for her future endeavours. (Story Based on PR)
