Authorities Issue Weather Alert for Andaman & Nicobar Islands; Fishermen Advised to Stay Ashore

Authorities have issued a weather advisory for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, forecasting heavy rainfall and squally conditions in the region over the next few days.

Heavy rain ranging from 07 to 11 cm is very likely at isolated places across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands today, June 21. Additionally, thundersqualls accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h and lightning are expected at one or two locations over the Andaman Islands.

The department has also warned of squally weather conditions with surface winds reaching 35–45 km/h, gusting up to 55 km/h, likely to prevail over the Andaman Sea and the island region from June 22 to 24. Sea conditions are expected to be rough to very rough during this period.

In view of the adverse weather forecast, fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from June 22 to 24, 2025.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have urged residents and marine operators to take necessary precautions.
