Several instances have come to the notice of the Transport Department that permit holders are not plying their auto rickshaws, instead they are hiring drivers to ply their auto rickshaws which is a violation under section 66/192 (A) Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019. Apart from challan, the challan will be forwarded to RTO for suspension/cancellation of permit. This rule is enforced against those Auto rickshaw owners, on whose permit the above mentioned clause is stated.
In this regard, to create awareness amongst Auto rickshaw Owners/Drivers, a meeting was convened on 29th March 2023, with Auto Rickshaw Union leaders, under the chairmanship of Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai, Dy. SP (Traffic)/DHQ to discuss the same & various other traffic issues in respect of auto rickshaws.
During the meeting, the Auto rickshaw drivers were directed to abide by the following:
- Auto rickshaw shall only ply as per fare meter once the new fare meter is issued by Civil Supplies.
- Drivers of auto rickshaw have been directed not to indulge in drunken driving.
- Not to misbehave with passengers.
- Parking shall only be done at designated auto rickshaw parking.
- Wearing of uniform is mandatory while driving auto rickshaws.
All the auto rickshaw owners & drivers have been advised to adhere to the above directions & general public have been advised, if any auto rickshaw driver is found violating traffic rules, they may lodge their complaint and necessary action would be taken against them.
