The Department of Education, Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Administration, has successfully generated Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) IDs for 61,917 students across the Union Territory. As part of the ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ initiative by the Government of India, APAAR serves as a digital identity for students, consolidating their academic achievements and facilitating smooth transitions between educational institutions.

The APAAR system is aligned with the National Education Policy of 2020 and aims to streamline the recognition of credits and transfer processes, enhancing the continuity of education for students. With its integration, academic progression and prior learning recognition become more efficient and accessible.

Commencing in October 2024, the APAAR registration was launched for students across 408 schools in the A&N Islands. As of today, a total of 61,917 students have been enrolled in the system, accounting for an impressive 91.46% completion rate—securing a top spot nationally in terms of achievement.

To reach the goal of 100% registration, the Department of Education has urged parents of the remaining 5,775 students to complete the necessary steps to ensure their children’s APAAR IDs are generated without delay.
