The Directorate of Social Welfare recently organized an awareness programme on the ‘Ill Effects of Alcohol and Drug Abuse’ under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The session was led by the Project Assistant (NAPDDR) and attended by students of B.Sc. First Year (Geography) from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM).
Resource persons from various departments — including the Medical Officer (IRCA), Psychologist-cum-Counselor (NTCP) from the Directorate of Health Services, and senior officials from the Anti-Narcotics CID Unit of the Police Department — addressed the gathering.
During the programme, speakers sensitized the students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged them to lead healthy, responsible, and drug-free lives. To promote participation, a QR code for the e-pledge under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was displayed, enabling students to take the pledge digitally and become part of the nationwide movement against substance abuse.
The students were also urged to act as peer ambassadors of the campaign by spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug and alcohol abuse among their friends and communities.
