Awareness Programme on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat’ Organised to Mark Conclusion of All India Solo Awareness Drive Against Drug Abuse by Sekhar Rao

An awareness programme on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat’ was organised by the Directorate of Social Welfare at the TGCE Seminar Gallery on Monday, marking the conclusion of the All-India Solo Awareness Drive against Drug Abuse by Mr. Sekhar Rao.

The programme aimed to sensitise students and faculty members about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse while promoting the importance of a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society. The event also formally concluded the 194-day All-India Solo Awareness Drive undertaken by Mr. Sekhar Rao, which commenced on June 26, 2025 from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and successfully covered all States and Union Territories across the country.

The awareness session featured informative and motivational talks by eminent resource persons, including Dr. M.K. Mahato, Medical Officer from the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA); Mr. Manoj Lal, Sub-Inspector from the Anti-Narcotics CID Branch; Mr. Ratin Mallick, Psychologist-cum-Counsellor, National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP); and Mr. Sekhar Rao, Solo Volunteer of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The speakers highlighted key issues related to substance abuse prevention, mental health challenges, legal implications of drug use, and the crucial role of youth and community participation in achieving the national vision of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat’. In recognition of his sustained voluntary service and contribution to nationwide awareness generation, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Mr. Sekhar Rao by the Principal of TGCE.

During the programme, students were also sensitised about the registration process and benefits of the Unique Disability Identity (UDID) Card. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members and concluded with an interactive session, followed by a pledge taken by the students to support the national mission of a drug-free and empowered India.
