The Electoral Literacy Club of Andaman Law College on Friday organized an awareness session on “Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the Electoral Process” in the college auditorium, aimed at motivating students to participate actively in the ongoing SIR exercise.

Presiding over the session, Principal Dr. P.V.N. Sarma urged students to contribute effectively in making the SIR campaign a success. He stressed that elections form the core of democracy and that maintaining an accurate and updated electoral roll is the responsibility of every citizen.

The resource person, Mr. Sentil Kumar, Master Trainer, explained key aspects of the Special Intensive Revision and addressed queries raised by the participants. He elaborated on procedures related to voter enrolment and corrections, ensuring students clearly understood the significance of error-free electoral records.

Nodal Officer Dr. N. Bala Krishnan highlighted the Election Commission of India’s flagship initiative—SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation). He encouraged students to enrol themselves by submitting Form 6 and to guide their family members and neighbours in doing the same.

Around 100 students attended the event and actively participated in the interaction. Director of Physical Education, Dr. Rajiv Mondal, also addressed the gathering. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Loganadham, Assistant Professor of Political Science.

The speakers also informed that the toll-free helpline 1950 is available round the clock for any assistance related to enumeration forms and voter mapping.
