The AYUSH Wing of the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Andaman and Nicobar Administration, concluded its month-long celebration of World Homoeopathy Day 2025 with a vibrant valedictory programme held at the TGCE Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram. The event marked the 270th birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy.
The closing ceremony was the culmination of a series of awareness drives and health promotional activities aimed at highlighting the effectiveness and contributions of Homoeopathy in the healthcare system. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to Dr. Hahnemann.
Dr. Anil Agarwal, IAS, Secretary (Health) and Managing Director (NAM), graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services, and renowned theatre personality Padma Shri Naresh Chander Lal attended as guests of honour.
In his keynote address, Dr. Agarwal underscored the significance of AYUSH systems, including Homoeopathy, in preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare. He highlighted the gentle and effective nature of Homoeopathic treatment, particularly its suitability for children and the elderly due to the ease of administration. He also encouraged sustained awareness and outreach initiatives across the Union Territory.
Padma Mr. Naresh Chander Lal lauded the efforts of the AYUSH Wing for organizing camps and community engagement programmes that reached diverse sections of society.
Earlier, Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (AYUSH), welcomed the attendees, while Dr. Supria Arangi, Medical Officer (Homoeo), AYUSH Hospital, presented a concise report on the month-long activities.
The event featured a skit by students of TGCE illustrating the role of Homoeopathy in disease management and a puppet show focused on its application in child healthcare. An exhibition showcasing various facets of Homoeopathy and its public health benefits was also inaugurated by the Secretary (Health).
Certificates and prizes were distributed to winners of competitions and participating students by the dignitaries. Similar programmes were simultaneously organized by Homoeopathic units across various islands.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rajiv Ghosh.
